Kuskaisaijet & Onella

My next Post will be about the Kuskaisaijet - Cartoon Party & the After Party in the greatest Disco in Rovaniemi, called Onnella.

the exchange-students group,  showing the teamspirit :)
The Kuskaisaijet event started at 2.30 pm in the afternoon. The aim was that everyone would like to dress up like one of a famous cartoon from tv or a comig. Unluckily we were only about 15 people of the University, who participated in this event. But on the other side,  everyone now regrets, that he couldn't be part of this great game.

a human Pyramid :)

There were about five locations/stations,  where each faculty gave a new task to the group.  In the first station,  we all should demonstrate a little bit of our teamspirit..with the dancing Macarena, the dulk-dance and some other weird stuff :)

On the second station, our job was to pull a rope through every's body, and then take a fast walk with it as a group.

There was only one rule:  the blue rope should enter on your arms, and had to left on one of your legs

It was a very funny task.

The next station was provided by the sports students of the University of Lapland.

It was allowed, to only use something about 5 legs, 3 hands, 2 ellbows, 2 knees etc.

Here it is:

Of course, my own costume should not miss on this blog :=)

I was a smurf,  blue and white. The only problem was to get rid off the blue paint in my face.

For the next task, I better put on this Video,  it explains itsself!  Only the tongue and the mouth was allowed, so a lot of kissing :)

First try:

The slowakian and ucrainian way of drinking vodka

The slowakian and ucrainian way of drinking vodka :)

It's Monday evening,  after a hard day of studying at the University[ Basic of Embedded Systems and Object-Orientated Programming in JAVA ] i felt so glad to be at "Home" :)
After ten minutes of relaxing, and trying to connect to the internet was a ring on the doorbell.

Who the hell is disturbing in the evening?

Two of my roomates were skyping with their girlfriends,  or let's say they didn't have enough power of willness to end the skype calling and start joining the social life with playin some card games in the night or drinking a little bit together.

Luc, the guy from Northern Island was just on the way home to be there over the weekend for a wedding.

Juraj, the slowakien guy on the left side of the picture was taking his typically evening siesta,  sleeping before going into bed, and then don't be able to fall asleep[ his solution:  drinking vodka, playing some orchestra music, and talking in english :) ]

So it was my turn to keep an eye to the door and listen what could happen.

HELP:  THERE WAS AN INVASION OF SOME CZECH,SLOVAKIA;RUSSIA.-People..[ hope Ididn't forget a country, if yes,  sry :) ].

In between 3 minutes,  5 guys and three girls were just crashing the party.

So what to do?  Well I decided to just stay there, defend my place at the table, drinkin my beer, and communicate with the other people.  but plans sometimes didn't go as planned.

After 5 min of a mix of russian/slowakian...talk,  i was a refugee in my own appartment, so I joined Nacho's Place, to lets say, have a good nice conversation in english, where atleast I could understand something :) and drinkin some argentinian wine :)

Two hours later, I just went back to my own place, and a mircale happend.

I entered the room, and some of the girls started talking to me in english,  very friendly.
When I m hanging around with some of the exchange-students, for every german student it is normal and easy-going to talk in english, so everyone can take part at the conversation,  let's say it s an act of politeness,  but other countries, other cultures :)

Later there was a great discussion, how to politcally correct drinking vodka.

First it was Andre's turn. After drinking a lot of vodka, and smelling on old bread, he danced a little bit :) Sebi was our testing candidate,  but after half of the bottle, he was quite fine :)

Happaranta(Schweden) Part II

After visiting the water power plant in Oulu,   it was time to end the evening with a little bit of drinking and talking in "Hemmingways" :)

The prices here in Finland are higher than in Germany.  For a typically finnish beer(0,5l), you have to pay about 6,50 € in a pub.
So better visit the next KSupermarket and  buy it there ( 0,5 l = 2-3 € ).

But before the trip to Happaranta(Sweden) starts,  we should better get some sleep in a known Hotel :)

The Bus to Happaranta via Kemi left early in the morning about 9am.
It took us about 3h of travel to get there. There was no border, so we just could walked to Sweden, and doing a timetravel for 1 hour in between a few minutes.[2 pm in Kemi(Finland), 1pm in Happaranta(Sweden)

The main-destination for this day was a well-known place, called IKEA :)

After 3h of excessive Shopping in IKEA,  it was time to take the next bus to KEMI and get back to Rovaniemi. But there were some small differences and problems with the swedish bustables.
It was not obvious, which time the bus timetables are going to show us,  whether the finnish or the swedish time. Many discussions with the group and the employers from Ikea, the Bus-Organisation, Busdrivers and local People, we made our way home. It took us about 3,5 h to get into the right bus,  Welcome to the friendly and nice country in Sweden. There were some very unfriendly people around us!

Back in Oulu, we could at least relax a little bit, and enjoyed the not shining sun,  281 K, wind and of course the beach and the sea.

Oulu(Finland) Part I

It is Friday morning, 5.30 am, somewhere in the dark, a heavy metall clock is ringing...damnit, it's too early too start fighting against being awake, so better sleep again for a few minutes...
5.35 am klinininininininininininingeling...... the clock won the fight :)  I have to get up, eat something and get prepared for the trip to Oulu & Happaranta.

Too Dark outside, too cold, but six exchange-students are fighting their way through the city of rovaniemi.

Destination: Railway Main Station, Oulu & Happaranta
Mobility: Bike, Train and Bus
Weather: ca. 280 K, cloudy and rainy

Arrival in Oulu at 9 am.  Oulu is the 6th largest City in Finland , and is set up on the West Coast of Finland.

Our first destinatino was the Downtown/CityCentre of Oulu. Oulu has got many interesting and old builidings.

The next plan was to visit the Art Museum. The entrance was free, so why to negotiate some cultural points of this excursion.
To be honest, it was disappointing at all. Only one small room with about 15 pictures,  nothin worth to see!

At least there was a very strong wind outside( lot s of energy :) ), so we decided to go shopping for a few minutes. It only took five minutes to find a weather-adaptable-hat :)

Our next station was a great police officer-statue, it has something. So here s the group picture:

Mi(South Corea)Julia & Birgit(Austria),Holger(Germany),Bianca(Austria) and ME :)

In the afternoon, everyone was a little bit tired,  it started to rain, so we all went to get some COFFEE and discuss the future plans.

I just read something about a hydroelectrical power plant in Oulu,  so my destination for the afternoon was clear. The girls weren't as much fascinated as expected from this aim, so they went to go to their hotel room.

Sometimes it is difficult to not think about your studies all the time,  so it was a good time to visit some ENERGY power plant. Here in Rovaniemi, I only got some talks about IT, Culture or PARTY,  so I really enjoyed it to see some study-related Topics :)

The first person, who can name me(via comment) the Type of the following turbine,  will receive a postcard :)

PartyPeople in the House!

In Finland, there also some PARTY-People :)

After the churchtrip on wednesday evening, there were also some parties at Onella, Doris & Tivoli.

random party people :)  70 % women,  30 % men,  :D

The Stamps on my arm told me in the next morning, that I ve been to Doris & Tivoli :)

Here in Finland, most of the people are very shy :)  Sometimes it s really crazy how they can use the silence in a talking for a essentiall part of the conversation. But when it comes to drinking,  and everybody is having a good time --> You are not able to meet some shy Fins.

Sauna & Cold Lake

Last Wednesday(12th September 2012) the local religious community in Rovaniemi organised a free trip for all the exchange students.

Our Location was a Lake about 20 km away from Rovaniemi.

On the evening's plan was first a common time in a nature chapall, secondly having a BBQ and finally an intensive Sauna-Time combining with some swimming in the cold lake.

Unfortunately I din't have the pictures, when I was in the cold lake after the sauna,  but i can assure you,  you are feeling new-born after it.
10 min in the Sauna, sweating, sweating, sweating...then run out to jump into the cold water.. and again sauna.....and lake...and sauna...  it was amazing !

At the end of the trip was a little bit of drinking, singing and I had to join some people from bavaria,  to sing a bavarian song.
